warm

I made whole wheat bread a few days ago the old fashioned way - with a wooden spoon, a lot of whining, and some tired arms. It took eight and a half cups of flour, and over five hours with all the rising times. I made three loaves less than a week ago. This is all that remains now. I'd say it's a keeper.

Recipe forthcoming.

confectionary

I just finished this. I've been working, off and on, for two weeks (more on than off - I tried to spend at least an hour a day embroidering, and I think I've averaged more) - and it's finally done! I'm sorry to say it's not for me - hence the ill fit on my dressform - as I'm so delighted with how it turned out, I wish it were. I have visions of popping this on over a T with an airy skirt for summer nights out on the town, or to the Pirates of the Carribbean movie in May. Alas. Perhaps I'll make another, but I doubt it. I'm tired of embroidering stars.
The low down: Eight-panel back-laced unboned underbust corset/corselet. Outer: cotton/poly blend in cotton-candy pink. Inner: linen/cotton canvas in pomegranate. Embroidery: cotton floss in taupe and navy. Lacing: large steel grommets (12), baby-blue ribbon.

a noble experiment

it may be time. Time to stop boring my friends by posting my crafting on my blog that should record ... oh, I don't know, other minutiae of my life. Spring break has granted me a wealth of time for research, but so far, I've devoted most of it to drooling over other people's craft blogs, wishing I had a compendium where they were all linked, wishing I'd take the time to do more of what they (and I) do. So! I make no promises regarding the lifespan of this experiment (to myself or any who happen upon it during internet wanderings), but here is the maiden voyage of my craft blog.
